| Post-Loyalist Settlement I (1814 - 1830)
Report of Executive Council Respecting Crown Lands, Lower Canada, 4 February 1792
Document Summary:
This document recommends that "waste lands" or wilderness owned by the Crown should be opened up for settlement and farming usage in Lower Canada. It recommends issuing an official proclamation and a table of fees for purchasing land, which would-be settlers should have access to.
It was also recommended that the government should not dictate where land should be sold, and that the formation of towns and villages should be allowed to occur naturally.
