Clergy Reserves: James Stephen's Opinion, 1829
Document Summary:
A legal argument is brought forth that - due to the decision of the Crown's Law Offices in 1819 extending clergy reserve management to the Church of Scotland (Presbyterians) - the Church of England (Anglicans) can no longer claim such reserve lands as a matter of right.
This document also called on the governor of Upper Canada to make some kind of decision regarding how much revenue the Presbyterian Church of Scotland is entitled to depending upon the amount of land they are to receive.
