Lyon Mackenzie was the founder of the Colonial
Advocate. He was a reformer and a critic of the Family
Compact. John Neilson [../..referencebiographies_e.html#neilson]
was a member of the Legislature of Lower Canada and
owner of the Québec
Gazette. Like Mackenzie, he was interested
in reform.
