Instructions to Governor Carleton, 1768

Historical Note

Major-General Sir Guy Carleton succeeded Murray as governor of Québec and served from 1766 to 1770, 1774 to 1778, and again from 1786 to 1796. The author, William Petty, second Earl of Shelburne, was secretary of state, Southern Department at this time.
