The "Québec traders" were
British merchants who resented Murray's sympathy for
the French-speaking, Catholic Canadians.

The Québec traders complain of conditions that injure
their trade. Among other things, they accuse Murray
of:
- Favouring the Canadians and encouraging them to use French.
- Failing to advance the Protestant religion.
They indicate that they would like Murray removed and replaced
with a more sympathetic governor.
