Governor
Lawrence to Lords of Trade, 3rd November, 1756
Document Summary:
Lawrence
restates his objections to forming an Assembly:
"A House of Representatives in the present posture of
affairs instead of obviating the inconveniences complained of
would only serve to create heats, animosities and disunions
amongst the people at a time when the enemy is as I may say
at our doors
."
Furthermore, he does not believe that people are dissatisfied
with the current state of affairs.
