Document Summary: General Haldimand asks Britain to
give "a safe and comfortable retreat" along the Grand River to Mohawk
Indians who had:
- Lost land to the newly created United States.
- Remained loyal to the British Crown.
The land is to
be purchased from the Mississaugan
Indians. The loyalist Mohawk are to "enjoy for ever" [sic] the use of
this land. |
